The parade steps off at 1pm at the intersection of Buckingham and Washington Streets, near the State Capitol, Travel north on Trinity Street through the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch, onto Ford Street, turn right on Asylum Street, right onto Main Street where it passes a reviewing stand across from the Wadsworth Atheneum, and right onto Capitol Ave, where it ends. Total distance: 1.26 miles.

PARKING:
We are grateful to surrounding parking lots and garages who will be offering discounted parking rates to attendees.  Participating lots include those run by Central Parking and Laz parking. 

All Laz Parking locations will be $5 with the exception of the XL Center which will remain $10).

The following Central Parking locations and rates apply:
100 Allyn Street $5
302 Asylum Street A & A Lot $5
350 Church Street (Saint Patrick's Saint Anthony's) Lot $7
1279 Main Street $5

The Gold Building parking lot on Pearl Street will be offering FREE parking to Veterans who show military ID or are active military.  They will also be offering $5 parade parking for others.

LOCAL DINING:
The following restaurants are providing Veterans Day Parade Specials:

Hook & Ladder on Main Street (Opens 9 am - 9 pm)

  • Half Price Nachos
  • Half Price Pizza
  • $2.00 Coors Light Drafts
Mayor Mikes on Asylum (Opens 10:30 am - 4 pm)
  • $3 drafts
Woody's on Main (Opens 11:30 am - 6 pm)
  • $5 Hot dog and Coors Light Draft
The following restaurants are open on Parade Day:
  • Agave (11:30 - 3 pm)
  • Dish on Main Street (4 pm - 9 pm)
  • Vito's by the Park (4 pm - 9 pm)
  • Vaughn's Public House on Pratt Street (11:30 a - 1:00 am)
  • Feng on Asylum (5 pm - 11 pm)
  • Arch Street Tavern (11:30 am - 6 pm)
  • Max Downtown (4:30 pm - 9:30 pm)

PARTICIPANT Directions to Staging Area - packets were mailed last weekend.  Groups and Individuals marching in the parade MUST be registered.

Inbound from I-91:
 - Exit 29A (Capitol Area)
 - Exit the first ramp off the Conlin-Whitehead Highway
 - Straight onto Pulaski Circle
  - 3rd right off circle onto Hudson St.
 - Right onto Capital Ave.
 - Enter appropriate parking/staging area

Inbound from I-84:
From the East
 - Exit 48 (Asylum Ave.)
 - Right onto Asylum Ave.
 - Bear left onto Farmington Ave.
 - Left onto Broad St.
 - Left onto Capitol
 - Enter appropriate parking/staging area

From the West
 - Exit 48B (Capitol Ave.)
 - Left onto Capitol Ave.
 - Follow straight past Bushnell Theatre
 - Enter appropriate parking/staging area

Expected Street Closings:

  • All highway exit ramps into the city will be open until 12:45 at which time The Capital Ave. exit off of I-84 Eastbound (exit 48B) will close, as will exit 29A (Capitol Area) on I-91.
  • Buckingham St. will be closed from Washington St. to Hudson St. from 11am until the conclusion of the parade.
  • Portions of Washington, Trinity, Asylum and Main Streets will close at 12:30pm to clear the parade route and will re-open as the parade leaves the area.
  • Whitehead Highway will close heading into the city beginning at 12:45pm and will reopen following the parade.
